About Dress Border

Most of what turns up under bordados needs work before it is usable. Dress Border is the version that does not. It sits at 11 saves — too few to call it popular, which is exactly why it is worth a look before everyone else finds it. Unreviewed so far — read that as untested rather than as a verdict.

Put it to work on border design first. If it survives that, it will survive whatever you had in mind next. Measure the finished repeat, not the hoop. Four repeats of a 180 mm border do not fit a standard pillowcase. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. A thumbnail hides exactly the detail that decides whether bordados is really what you are getting.

The listing files it under cushion cover, cutwork border design, embroidery border and embroidery lace — those are the words it gets found by, and between them they describe the file better than any category name does. The neighbouring searches are borders — worth a look if this particular pattern is close but not quite it. We filed it under Border Embroidery Designs for the obvious reason, and the shelf is small enough to read end to end.

How to use this pattern

  1. Download the files from Creative Fabrica and unzip them into one folder.
  2. Print the pattern sheets at 100% — no scaling, no «fit to page» — and check the test square with a ruler before you cut anything.
  3. Tape the sheets together on the printed match marks, then cut the pieces out and keep the instruction sheet next to your machine.
  4. Sew a quick version in cheap fabric first if the shape is new to you; the second one is always the one you keep.
