About Open Book

What we like about Open Book is how little it tries to be everything — it does education, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Work, Faith & School Embroidery Designs shelf. Nobody has reviewed it, which we do not hold against a new file — but it does mean the preview is the only honest evidence. With 36 saves it has barely been seen, and that is neither a good nor a bad sign on a catalogue this size.

Put it to work on embroidery project first. If it survives that, it will survive whatever you had in mind next. School items are name-labelled. A design that leaves clear space underneath saves re-hooping for the name. Before downloading, give the preview a full-size look and read the licence tab — two clicks, and they answer most of what the listing leaves unsaid.

Search for embroidery, embroidery design, learn and machine embroidery and this is the file those words land on; they are all the same pattern, filed under whichever phrase you happened to type. On this site it lives on the Work, Faith & School Embroidery Designs shelf, so it also turns up for people browsing work, faith & school embroidery designs rather than searching for it by name. If none of this quite fits, the adjacent requests are work-religion-school and they stay on this page.

How to use this pattern

  1. Download the files from Creative Fabrica and unzip them into one folder.
  2. Print the pattern sheets at 100% — no scaling, no «fit to page» — and check the test square with a ruler before you cut anything.
  3. Tape the sheets together on the printed match marks, then cut the pieces out and keep the instruction sheet next to your machine.
  4. Sew a quick version in cheap fabric first if the shape is new to you; the second one is always the one you keep.
